Scotland Excavation Services
Scotland is one of the smallest and most rural towns in the region — barely 1,700 people on quiet farm and forest land along the Little River, anchored by the historic Scotland Green and the Waldo Homestead. There's no commercial center to speak of; it's working farms, woodlots, and large residential parcels. At about 12 miles, Scotland is a town we cover regularly for its agricultural and rural-residential work.

Excavation on Scotland's farms and woodlots
With virtually no public utilities, nearly everything in Scotland runs on private septic and wells, so the typical job is a complete package — system, well trench, driveway, and pad grading — on a large rural lot. The Little River and its tributaries thread through town, bringing wetlands and floodplain setbacks that we identify during the site visit and coordinate with the town wetlands agent before digging.
Scotland's ground is classic Eastern CT glacial till with ledge on the higher, drier sites and wetter pockets in the low ground near the river — a real range that makes the perc test and test pit essential before we quote. It's genuine farm country, so we also handle agricultural site work like barn pads, paddock grading, and pasture drainage. Septic permits go through the Northeast District Department of Health.
