A sewer lateral has exactly one job — carry everything downhill without a hiccup — and it only does that job if the pitch is right for every foot of the run. Roberts Excavation installs and replaces sewer lines across Plainfield and the surrounding Eastern Connecticut towns, on both municipal systems and septic connections. We are a licensed and insured Connecticut contractor (Lic. #NHC.0014110), owner-operated, digging with our own equipment on every job.
New laterals get laser-set grade, proper bedding under and around the pipe, cleanouts where code calls for them, and compacted backfill so the pipe never bellies — a sagging line is a future clog factory. Replacements start with finding the actual failure: roots at old clay joints, crushed or collapsed sections, or a line that was never pitched right to begin with. We dig where the problem is, not the whole run, whenever the pipe allows it.
On town sewer, we handle the connection at the main or the stub and coordinate the municipality's inspection before anything gets buried. On septic properties, we tie the lateral into the tank inlet at the correct elevation. Either way the trench gets an 811 markout first, and estimates are free. If a backed-up line is pushing sewage toward the house, we treat it as an emergency and respond around the clock.
