Barn Site Preparation

Before your builder shows up, the site has to be right — and that part is our job. Roberts Excavation preps barn sites throughout the Plainfield area and Eastern Connecticut, from small run-in sheds to full boarding barns and indoor arena pads. The company has completed more than 500 projects across the region since 2010, and building pads are core work: clearing, cut and fill, compacted pad construction, and the drainage that keeps water away from your foundation.

New England ground moves. Frost heave can shift a poorly prepared pad, so we excavate down to suitable soils, build the pad back up in compacted lifts, and grade the surrounding ground to shed water away from the structure. Wet soil under a barn is what leads to sticking doors, cracked slabs, and frozen waterers — and much of that traces back to site prep rather than the building itself.

We coordinate with your barn builder on pad elevation, dimensions, and access, and we can rough in the driveway and utility trenches in the same mobilization so you are not paying for two setups. DJ runs the equipment himself, the company is CT licensed and insured (Lic. #NHC.0014110), and estimates are free.
