A farm gate gets slammed, leaned on, dragged through mud, and bumped by tractors — and it is expected to keep swinging for decades. Roberts Excavation builds and repairs steel gates and fencing for properties around Plainfield and across Windham and New London counties, from single paddock gates to full driveway entrance gates. Everything is welded steel, sized to your opening, and hung to swing true.

On the fabrication side, that means driveway gates, paddock and pasture gates, security gates, and heavier-duty latches and hinge points when the hardware-store version keeps failing. On the repair side, we fix bent gates, broken welds and hinges, sagging panels, and damaged steel fencing — often on site with the mobile rig, so the gate never has to leave your property. For horse properties, we grind welds smooth and avoid protrusions that could catch an animal.

Fencing in this region also fights frost heave and wet ground, so posts and mounting points matter as much as the gate itself. We set posts and rebuild mounting hardware as part of the job, and because we run our own excavation equipment, the dig-and-set work stays in-house instead of being subbed out.
